Latest News...

In the meantime...

We'll be releasing more details and a release date for my new record soon. In the meantime I've been doing some covers in the studio to keep myself occupied.

Here's a cover I did of The National's I Need My Girl. Give it a listen, and might I suggest this sounds particularly good on headphones. This was me experimenting alone in my project studio, but Kevin Salem helped by sussing out some frequency issues in the mix. My upcoming record is a pure Rock n Roll record produced by Kevin, it's noisy and big with feedback and a band in the room rumble so don't view this National cover as a preview of what to expect of what's around the corner sonically. I might post a couple more covers in the coming weeks. We'll see. Above all though I can't wait for you to hear the new record. You should start stretching because it really is a movie with fists in the air through-out. I don't want anyone ending up with tennis elbow. I love this record, I suspect a lot of you will too.

There will be noise...

We finished mixing the new record yesterday and signed-off on the sequence this morning. I can hardly contain my feelings about this record and the guys that helped make it. Today we send it off to my great friend (and excellent engineer) Hans DeKline for mastering. This album is the sound, cinema, poetry and feel that I've been missing as a music lover. Been looking for a record like this for quite some time, there's a lot of great stuff out there but haven't really found "this." So glad we managed to capture a collection so simultaneously raw and elegant, intimate, honest, violent, beautiful, cool and loud. I can't wait for you to hear it. There is no release date yet since we'll be spending the earliest part of 2014 trying to find and follow the surest path for this music to reach you. As you can see in the pic below I'm a little beat up but I'm recovering and excited about what tomorrow holds... I'll keep you posted as things develop.

Working on a new album...

I hope you love guitars.

The band on the new album is Brian Bequette (Bass), Brian Fallon (Guitar), Joe Magistro (Drums), Kevin Salem (Production, Guitars and batting clean-up), and of course yours truly.

The album will be released next year, but not until I feel it has more than a snowball's chance in hell. It's too good. Stay tuned, I'll keep you posted.

Best,
Matthew Ryan

I've been taking pictures...

Some of you may know that I've been taking pictures for quite some time now. I certainly don't consider myself a photographer, but I do love experimenting with the mood and cinema of visuals. I opened a gallery online that you can browse if you're interested. Prints are available for purchase there and the reviews from those that have already bought some are that they look great!
